‘Yeah, I did it—I beat up Rihanna.’ Words from Chris Brown while in court yesterday for his preliminary hearing. Chris copped a guilty plea. So now he’s a convicted felon. He won’t have to do jail time for his crime, but he did get five years probation, 180 days of community service, will have to take a domestic violence class. He and Rihanna will have to stay at least 50 yards apart except at entertainment industry events where it’s only 10 yards. The judge told Chris that it was ‘commendable’ that he took responsibility for his conduct. Ri Ri was there, but didn’t have to testify. Chris’ formal sentencing happens in August.
Now that Chris has some of that legal drama behind him, he’s moving on to his next victim—I mean artist. He’d asked Keri Hilson to help him write songs for his next album and she’s agreed.
Speaking of a collabo, I hear Alicia Keys and Whitney Houston might be doing a duet for Whitney’s comeback album. Alicia has supposedly written a song for Whitney called “Million Dollar Bill.” I’ll keep you posted.
HE HIT ME!!!! That’s what blog gossiper Perez Hilton is screaming about Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and his manager. Perez says they assaulted him outside of an awards show in Toronto over the weekend. Perez told it on Will.i.am on his Twitter page and even made a video about it, calling Will a liar and a coward.
Lil Wayne is supposed to be in court today in Arizona to answer to his drug and weapons charges. Remember back in January of last year, DEA agents found marijuana, cocaine, Ecstasy and a gun on Weezy’s tour bus. Weezy’s pleaded not guilty.
Beyonce is about to catch a lawsuit from a nightclub owner in Manhattan. The man says he agreed to pay B $200,000 to perform at his club the night before she jumped off her U.S. tour, and then he dished out an extra $100,000 to get read for her performance only to have cancel at the last minute. He wants his money back!
Beyonce jumped off her tour in New York Sunday night and guess who surprised her on stage with a performance—her husband of course. She and Jay-Z did “Crazy in Love” and “I Just Wanna Love U” together. For her “Single Ladies” hit, B featured a number of videos that were made by fans imitating her dance moves. B is in DC tomorrow.
Can we stand another reality show? Get ready because producer Scott Storch is trying to re-up his cash box. He just signed a deal with MTV to have his own reality show that will show Scott’s drama in the business and how he creates music in the studio. Maybe he can pay back the $46,000 in child support or give back that Bentley he leased.
New CD’s out today—Ginuwine is back, so is Grand Puba’s solo project and ol’ schooler Al B. Sure is in stores today, too after 15 years!
