Power 98's First Lady!

Artie "The One Woman Party" Weekdays 10 am to 2 pm

Artie "The One Woman Party" hails from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. At the age of nine Artie began to cultivate her singing and acting talents. She performed in plays and musicals, one of her most notable performances was Fiddler on the Roof. Artie's singing voice was untouchable and she loved the stage. She won every school and neighborhood talent sow until she was 12 years old.

Artie attended Johnson C. Smith University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts & Science Degree. Her radio career was purely incidental, Artie was a pre-med student at JCSU. In the fall of 1991 she met Frankie Darcell, who was the Power 98 Music Director at the time, and she loved Artie's voice so much she offered her an internship. This stint led Artie to become the Program Director at her college radio station WJCS 560 AM. But the stage still called her. Artie began performing again in plays and musicals for in this she found a release and true sense of freedom. She received the JCSU Outstanding Actress Award for three consecutive years 1989, '90 and '91.

Artie's interest in radio had been piqued and would not be denied. So in January of '92 she worked as a promotions intern for WCKZ-KISS 102. By the end of the year Artie would be a full-time promotions assistant. February of '93 found Artie in the Promotions Director seat and by the summer she was doing part-time on-air as well. That August Artie was working 10 pm-2 am as a full-time air talent. She found her home at Power 98 WPEG-FM in the Midday spot where she currently reigns.

Artie is a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and was voted "Most Influential Woman." In her spare time she enjoys reading, Musical Theatre and Poetry.
