This 3-man group, representing the DMV, is doing big things on the music scene, both locally and nationally, with a sound like nothing you’ve ever heard to come outta "The Cap"! In a quest to find a sound that would bridge the gap between traditional R&B and hip-hop, DC-born R&B singer Frankie D enlisted the help of his cousin, producer/ rapper D-Daye, to begin making tracks for his demo CD. One day while in the studio, the cousins were taking a break, when they were visited by a close friend of Frankie D, another producer/ MC, known as DeCon (pronounced dee-con), a New York City native. An off-the-cuff freestyle session in the studio that day by the 3 friends turned out to be the beginning of the group known as The Co-Op. The Co-Op has been featured on the Mambo Sauce Vol. 2 mixtape, hosted by WPGC’s own, DJ Heat, as well as the SHINE Mixtape Series Vols. 2 and 3, by DJ Furious Styles of XM Radio. They’ve performed alongside national recording artists including Lil’ Jon, Lil’ Scrappy, Young Buck, and Dipset. The Co-Op is currently promoting their single,“Girl”. The music video for “Girl” is currently airing on vh1 Soul, MTV Jams, and Music Choice.
