Lowdown for Wednesday, August 5th

Let’s get all the violent stories out of the way first!!

Case #1 -- Chris Brown is in LA today waiting to find out what his sentence will be in his felony assault case—you know the beat down of his ex-Rihanna. Anyway, you know he cut a deal. He’s expected to get 180 days of community service, five years of probation and he has to stay at least 50 yards away from Rihanna. Meanwhile, Ri-Ri’s attorney says he’ll request a level one protective order in which Chris CANNOT annoy, molest, or harass Rihanna and if he does, he could head to the slammer for up to four years. Keep it movin’, Chris Breezy!!

Case #2 -- In New Orleans, a jury has been selected in the re-trial of C-Murder. Opening statements start today in C’s case in which he’s accused of killing a 16 yr old boy at a club seven years ago.

Case #3 – Method Man is headed to court for allegedly shooting a pellet gun after a concert in Houston last fall. A fan says all she wanted was an autograph—what she got was Method Man firing shots out the window of his tour bus, hitting her at least six times in the chest and torso. She says she’s been disfigured and wants to get paid.

And violent Case #4 – This is just talk right now, but I heard Rick Ross’s car may have been shot up in Miami. His boy Gunplay fired some shots back. The po-po came to investigate, but no word on who did it.

Major change for “American Idol”. Paul Abdul is quitting the show. She broke the news to her fans on Twitter last night. Paula didn’t say why, but just thanks fans for the support. Oh, Paula we know why—the new judge Kara stole your shine, boo. Simon and Randy will both be back, too. And of “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest just inked a three-year $45 million deal to continue.

Well, I told you earlier this week that Tiny and Toya’s daughters wanted their OWN reality show. Well, it seems like it’s really happening. Peeps for little Reginae and Zonnique are shopping around the show to be called “OMG Girls”—it’ll be the girl group Tiny and Toya are putting together for their daughters and their friend.

Have you seen the cover of Jay-Z’s “Blueprint Three” CD? It has a lot of white instruments piled together in a corner with three big, red horizontal lines over them. What does it mean? Jigga says the things piled in the corner are the forgotten things in music. He says it’s all about music—not radio, not gimmicks—just music. And the three stripes represent the #3 and they connect the lines. Jigga says he just wanted to go back to making music we grew up listening to.
Look for Snoop to be among celebrities featured over the next two weeks on ABC’s “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.”
Big up to Beyonce and Lady Gaga! They are leading nominations for MTV’s Video Music Awards with 9 nominations each including Best Female Video and Video of the Year. The VMA’s are live September 13, 9pm on MTV.
