The world is remembering those who lost their lives eight years ago in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Jay-Z will remember those 400 New York police, fire and emergency professionals who died rescuing others from wreckage of the towers in the days after the attack. He’s taking over New York’s Madison Square Garden tonight for a free concert to benefit those families who lost loved ones.
Jigga’s “Blueprint 3” album dropped this week and is expected to sell anywhere from 350,000-500,000 it’s first week. We’ll see.
Chris Brown is about to join the orange vest crew. You know as part of his assault drama, he has to do 180 hours of community service. That means for 8 hours a day starting at 8am, Chris will get on a bus with about 30 or 40 other convicted criminals and pick up trash along roads and highways, trim brush, scrub gang graffiti off the walls and wash police cars. No word on when he’ll start. I’ll keep you posted.
Meanwhile, Chris has leaked his own song on his twitter page. It’s called “Follow Me Like Twitter.” Check it out.
Moving on to Whitney Houston. Whit had a sit-down with Oprah to talk about her battle with drugs. She says it got so bad she didn’t’ get dressed for 7 months and that her mom showed up at her house with two cops and a court order demanding Whitney go into rehab. Whit says her mom told Bobby if he tried to interfere, the cops would take him down. That interview airs next Monday and Tuesday on Oprah.
Congrats to Tisha Campbell-Martin and hubby Duane—they had a baby boy Tuesday. His name is Ezekiel Czar Martin. I’ll have his picture on our madhouse blog.
On the tube this weekend, MTV’s Video Music Awards air live this Sunday. Beyonce and Lady Gaga are leading nominations with nine each. The VMA’s air this Sunday night at 9 on MTV.
Big movie in theatres this weekend, Tyler Perry’s new flick “I Can Do Bad All By Myself” with Taraji P. Henson and Mary J. Blige is on the big screen, too.
